"History is full of people who out of fear, ignorance, or lust of power have destroyed knowledge of immeasurable value which truly belongs to us all. We must not let it happen again." -Carl Sagan

"Elecric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the worlds machinery without the need of coal, oil, gas, or any other of the common fuels!" -Nikola Tesla

Welcome to Backyard Power!  Here you will find some great backyard projects.   We've been working hard over the past couple years coming up with some easy to build projects to help save money on your utility bills.

Our finished prototype of the Solar Heater. Unit is 2' x 4' and puts out about 1000-2000 btu. Can reach temperatures of 168 degrees. Visit the gallery for more details. We started on a solar concentrator back in September and have had some really interesting success with it. I'll post the details here soon.  Great for cooking food or heating water. This little project will show you how to build your own wind powered generator.  Our aim is to shoot for something similar to the popular Air X 400 wind turbine.

A spiral generator is easier to build than most people think. It also works better in low winds than a regular wind generator. On this little project we will be adapting our car alternator to a water wheel to generate power while camping.
